get (a)round to do sth : (마침내) ~ 할 시간을 내다.

 

When you have the intention of doing something and you finally do it. We have an expression for that.

무엇인가를 할 의도를 가지고 있다가 마침내 그것을 해내게 되었을때, 사용하는 표현이 있습니다.

 

 

해리포터를 오랫 동안 읽어야지, 읽어야지 하고 있는데

드디어 시간을 내서 읽을 수 있게 되었어요!

 

이럴 때,

 

 

I’m (finally) getting (a)round to reading Harry Potter.

드디어 시간을 내서 해리포터를 읽고 있어.

 

라고 말하면 됩니다.

 

to get round to sth

 

sth 자리에 동사 read가 오려면 

-ing 를 붙여서 동명사로 만들어주면 되어요. 

 

동사가 올 경우 

 

to get (a)round to V-ing(동명사)

 

가 된다는 걸 기억하시면 될 것 같습니다.

 

과거형

I got (a)round to reading Harry Potter.

드디어 시간을 내서 해리포터를 읽었어.

 

 

해리포터 책을 샀어요. 몇 달 후 친구가 묻습니다.

 

 

“Have you finished the Harry Potter book?”

해리포터 책 다 읽었어?

 

부정형

I haven’t got (a)round to starting it yet.
